The projected targets show up best in a dim or dark room, like an evening living room or basement.
Is it safe for kids?
The blasters use infrared signals, not a visible laser beam or projectiles. As with any toy, adult supervision is recommended for younger kids. Don't point the projector light directly into anyone's eyes.
